Marée
Los Angeles, CA2026 Marée is an airy French-California bistro created for award-winning chef Marcus Jernmark, seated one floor above his Michelin-starred restaurant Lielle. Located on the second story of the same Pico Boulevard building, Marée was reimagined by Lovers Unite as the casual, sparkly and spontaneous counterpart to its subterranean sister below.
Cream-colored plastered walls and soaring ceilings evoke a sun-drenched it-girl apartment above the Marais, while dramatic floor-to-ceiling curtains draw the eye up through the double-height space. A curvaceous zinc chef's counter, weathered with intentional patina, meets green onyx marble at the bar, and antiqued mirrors along the dining room carry the evening's menu in handwritten script.
Knoll velour banquettes upholstered in a rich "Jam" hue and Thonet-style walnut bistro chairs bring saturated, tactile color into the room. Clam pendants by Fritz Hansen glow above the bar, Matt Alford Studio pendants warm the dining room, and Lawson-Fenning sconces mark the entry. A semi-open kitchen carries forward the same hospitality and transparency found at Lielle below. The result is a space built to age gracefully, bright, sociable, and made, like the classic bistros it draws from, to become a neighborhood landmark with time.
